Peter Altmeier-Mort has lead a diverse career as a professional musician and guitarist performing and recording with groups and ensembles in the Jazz, Rock, Blues, Alt Country, Latin, World Music, and Classical genres. He is a teacher with some 35 years’ experience in music education, and has held Lecturer positions at the Universities of NSW, ECU, and Churchlands CAE.
In recent years he has been a Senior Instrumental Teacher and Examiner in contemporary guitar styles with the WA Department of Education.
He has worked and performed with many national popular-music identities (Marcia Hines, Doug Parkinson), media organisations (Triple J, ABC-TV), and musical stage shows in the Eastern states. He is also an arranger/composer and has completed commissions for radio, television, independent film productions, and orchestral concert performances.
Besides considerable band work in WA on guitar and bass with groups such as The Howling Desperados, Suzi and The Reptiles, Indigo Duck Blues Band, and The Curators, he has been a several-time nominee and winner of the WAMI song-writing competition.
